Handover notes

Please use this page to write up any notes on anything that needs to be passed on to the next observer or should go into the end of experiment message.

Notes should be placed below the horizontal line as a new blog entry.

Continuing problems should be copied to the Current Issues page.

**Template for Handover notes:**

Be sure to add any specific notes about the experiment if required, for example “Special back end configuration for x reason”. Put as much detail as you can - the more the better.

It is ESSENTIAL to put your name after EVERY entry. Copy and paste the template into the new handover notes

Again - as much detail as you can. It is important to remember that these notes will be sent to the correlator, so please make sure they make sense to others.

The Field System computer (and KVM switch) were not operating properly during setup. I had to have Martin attend the telescope to restart the KVM switch and the Field System. The first few scans were missed (as described below) (Imogen (on call)).

  • 00:37 UT - Experiment started. Missed scans 319-0000 to 319-0038. Corresponding to 173 GB shortage of data. (vk)
  • 05:59UT ssh connection keeps dropping out (Imogen)
  • 07:55UT still losing ssh connection every 5 minutes which is preventing me from completing a checklist. Am still able to log onto Field System PC so was able to do some checks - everything is running smoothly at this stage. (Imogen)
  • 10:08 UT - ssh connection is still not stable enough to complete a checklist. Did a full check of all systems and everything is ok. (Imogen)
  • 10:10UT Weather update (due to checklist failure): 90% cloud, temp 28 degrees C, pressure 993 hPa, humidity 71%. (Imogen)

I can't get the text editor 'gedit' to work (I had the same issue last night), so the .sum files are in emacs. But now gnuplot doesn't have a terminal type 'wxt' (when it opens, it sets it to 'unknown'). So I had to plot the delay differences on ops4 where the command 'set term wxt 0 ; plot “ke_ddif.txt” works fine, while on ops2 I get the error: unknown or ambiguous terminal type. Has there been a software update that messed with everything? (Ellen)

Hb

  • Hb is excluded from r4661 (vk)
  • Unable to drudge .skd. Jim advises it is possibly due to Hb scheduling issues. (vk)
