Handover notes

Please use this page to write up any notes on anything that needs to be passed on to the next observer or should go into the end of experiment message.

Notes should be placed below the horizontal line as a new blog entry.

Continuing problems should be copied to the Current Issues page.

**Template for Handover notes:**

Be sure to add any specific notes about the experiment if required, for example “Special back end configuration for x reason”. Put as much detail as you can - the more the better.

It is ESSENTIAL to put your name after EVERY entry. Copy and paste the template into the new handover notes

Format for entering a comment It is important to stick to this formula - there is a good reason we need this information, so please include it!

Time stamp in UT * Comment * (Your Name)

For Example:

20:00UT: Wind stows, Missed scans 012-3456 to 012-3457 (Jim)

20:50UT: Mark5 lost connection, had to restart Mark5 and reconfigure DBBC, called Jamie on call to fix, missed scans 012-3456 to 012-4567 (Jim)

Again - as much detail as you can. It is important to remember that these notes will be sent to the correlator, so please make sure they make sense to others.

UT - Experiment may have started OK but not sure due to some mishaps (sorry). (Earl)

Scan: 234-2019 262 0202+319 0 29 NEUTR 20:19:28 20:21:11

Error with Log Monitor suggested scans prior to this may not have been missed (as thought, probably damaged by my attempts to fix the apparent issue), but I'm am only certain after this (sorry).

  • 1730UT - Problems with Mark5 recorder are preventing experiment from starting. Mark5 crashed during disk transfer. attempting to fix now. (Tiege)
  • 1748UT - Autocorrs were completely trash and iread was showing 0 for two IFs. All issues were fixed by multiple power cycles of the mk5, along with restarting dbbc software and resyncing. ntpq -np reports an offset to the GPS of -17ms which is not ideal, however, before power cycling the mk5 it was at around -150ms. I am going to leave it as is because it seems like the data is OK, but will mention to Warren at change over. First good scan no0007 (Tiege)
  • 23:05 UT - ntp gps delay 14 and offset 85 ms , DOT(data observe time) syncerr = 0 (Warren)

  • 1730UT Experiment started ok (Prad)
  • First scan may have been affected because mk5 clocks required syncing (Prad).
  • 1737UT/1745UT - mk5 crashed twice. Likely the first and second scans corrupted (Prad).
  • 1755UT - The module graphic magically turned from 28% free to 100% free as though the whole previous data was wiped off. Confirmed with 'DirList' on oper@mk5hb that this was not the case. Some strange ERC glitch? (Prad)
  • 23:21 - Swapped to HOB+0069 for remainder of OHG experiment. DirList on HOB+1002 shows valid data up to 11 TB but the record pointer was been reset to 0.2 TB. Module swapped to avoid overwriting some as yet unexported data from CRD104. (JMc)
  • 1037UT 70K receiver gettng too hot, gone out to MtP; pump was on when I got there and temperature is around 85K now I'm back again (Ross)
