Handover notes

Please use this page to write up any notes on anything that needs to be passed on to the next observer or should go into the end of experiment message.

Notes should be placed below the horizontal line as a new blog entry.

Continuing problems should be copied to the Current Issues page.

**Template for Handover notes:**

Be sure to add any specific notes about the experiment if required, for example “Special back end configuration for x reason”. Put as much detail as you can - the more the better.

It is ESSENTIAL to put your name after EVERY entry. Copy and paste the template into the new handover notes

Format for entering a comment It is important to stick to this formula - there is a good reason we need this information, so please include it!

Time stamp in UT * Comment * (Your Name)

For Example:

20:00UT: Wind stows, Missed scans 012-3456 to 012-3457 (Jim)

20:50UT: Mark5 lost connection, had to restart Mark5 and reconfigure DBBC, called Jamie on call to fix, missed scans 012-3456 to 012-4567 (Jim)

Again - as much detail as you can. It is important to remember that these notes will be sent to the correlator, so please make sure they make sense to others.

  • 1700UT Experiment started okay (Lucas).
    • clkoff-maserdelay is now -0.986 us at Katherine despite no sync error.
    • dbbc=pps_delay reported 61881 rather than 61950. Did a dbbc=pps_sync, then fmset. This now fixed both the clkoff-maserdelay and pps_delay. Will introduce clock jump however so consid20er scans before 119-1712 missed (Lucas).
  • 2020 UT Field system crashed, setting off watchdog alarm. Restarted field system and put schedule back on, missed scan 119-2009a to 119-2035b (Lucas)
  • 2040 UT Pretty serious lag between commands and response from field system, not a ping issue (Lucas).
  • ALARM: scan_check reports mark5 data format problem. Module swap probably required.
    • Monitoring. Could be a one off.
    • Didn't recur in following 2 scans.
  • After reset systemp12 magically worked again too. Annoyingly inconsistent and unexplained (Lucas).
  • 03:05 UT pps delay drifting, dbbc reconfigure, missed scans 120-0306b and 120-0310 (warren)
  • 03:16 UT schedule resumed (w)
  • 07:10 UT Zero values return in response to wth command(Simin).
  • 2019.120.14:16:36.02?ERROR ib -402 GPIB(enol) write handshake error, CHECK instrument and cable, W1 (EARL)
  • 2019.120.14:49:21.10?ERROR tc -302 TPICD not set-up: no detectors selected. (EARL)

  1. Anemometer is connected, but 'wth' command is not working (mas)
  2. Experiment started OK 1830 UT (mas)
  3. Drives stuck. Reboot and reset drives several times. Missed scans 115-1935-2015 (mas)
  4. Need to keep restart the PCFS. Probably missed scans 115-2220-115-2301a (mas)
  5. 0532UT - field system and vnc crashed. Restarted the vnc through pcfske and proceeded to reboot the fs (Prad).
  6. 0607UT - says dbbc probably not running so I restarted the same (Prad).
  7. Scans 116-0533b to 116-0609b likely to have been affected (Prad).
  8. 0617UT- mark5 sync error. Fixed in fmset (Prad).

  • 19:00 UT: The Dewar vacuum pressure is higher than 3.5 microns per Mercury (~6.04) (Momtaz).
  • 19:20 UT: Alarm: Large difference between formatter and maserdelay (Momtaz).
  • 19:10 UT: Alarm: SX receiver parameter pres out of range for the last few readings. It is working well after running the pump (Momtaz).
  • 02:38:00 UT Missed scan 107-0235 (Lucas) is a windstow.
    • Still stowed at 04:10:00 at scan 107-0414 (Lucas).
    • Wind sitting around 35-40 km/hr, seems stead and not falling (Lucas).
  • 1316 UT: Wind Stowed since source 107-1322
  • 1320 UT: e-remote control lost connection (unable to reconnect), antenna doesn't seem to respond. antenna= commands didn't work. (Lim)
  • 13:57 UT: terminated boss, restarted fs-mk5ho, did quick setup, valid scan 107-1405a. (missed scans: 07-1325b, 107-1338, 107-1342, 107-1348, 107-1351b) (Lim)
  • 14:11 UT: e-remote control re-connected. Log file continued on apsg45_ho_econtrol.log from apsg45ho_erc.log (Lim)
  • 15:17 UT: “previous source in this schedule not reached before new source was commanded” error happens again. antenna= commands still returns 'Direct antenna communication unavailable“. Doesn't look like wind stow since wind speed <10km/h. (Lim)

  • 17:50 UT: Experiment started late (Momtaz).
  • 02:00 UT Frequent antenna lost connection alarms and antenna stuck prompts. Fix is antenna=open, antenna=operate and confirmation that antenna is moving again (Lucas).
