Handover notes

Please use this page to write up any notes on anything that needs to be passed on to the next observer or should go into the end of experiment message.

Notes should be placed below the horizontal line as a new blog entry.

Continuing problems should be copied to the Current Issues page.

**Template for Handover notes:**

Be sure to add any specific notes about the experiment if required, for example “Special back end configuration for x reason”. Put as much detail as you can - the more the better.

It is ESSENTIAL to put your name after EVERY entry. Copy and paste the template into the new handover notes

20:50UT: Mark5 lost connection, had to restart Mark5 and reconfigure DBBC, called Jamie on call to fix, missed scans 012-3456 to 012-4567 (Jim)

Again - as much detail as you can. It is important to remember that these notes will be sent to the correlator, so please make sure they make sense to others.

  • Experiment started late. Newsmerd went down, still no idea why. Previous experiment was using Multifeed X-band and when newsmerd went down couldn't change receivers or boot remotely (as far as I am aware). Manually changed receivers and tried to boot newsmerd on site without success. I think it is stuck in a weird state and don't want to break it. Live page not working, cannot access vdesk or bruce. Lucky was able to stow antenna remotely with field system on hobart after remote boot, but could not confirm successful stow until drive out.
    • Started fs-mk5hb on pcfshb, still is running there. mk5hb required a reboot too.
    • Started successfully 17:50 UT, first scan 326-1746 then more or less immediately windstowed and had been in windstow since (currently 20:00 UT). Cryo is fine, cannot check psup - Lucas.
    • Delays are weirdly high (~8us but visibly stable in delaylive). fmset reports no offset and mk5=dot is happy - Lucas.
    • Wind stow released 326-2041, all sources between 326-1811 and this missed - Lucas
    • Scan 326-2208 missed after halting schedule - mistook the receiver p0sition as incorrect (JMc)
    • 04:11 Wind stow. missed scans from 327-0411 to 327-0606 (W)
    • 05:52 UT Wind stow released, start recording again from 327-0606 (W)

  • 06:40 UT Same problem with mk5. Try to reboot mk5. Call yg to power cycle mk5 and restart it (Simin)
  • 08:45 UT Have to call yg to change the module (Simin)
  • 09:17 UT Back to recording. Affected scans: 324-0619a to 324-0917

  4. 0958 UT WARNING: error an -103 pointing computer tracking errors are too large.
  5. 0958 UT WARNING: error qo -301 warning: onsource status is slewing!
  6. 0959 UT ALARM: Large difference between formatter and maser delays. Solved the problem using “counter” command (Lim)
  7. 0959 UT WARNING: error ib -402 gpib(enol) write handshake error, check instrument and cable, w1 (Lim)
  8. 1008 UT ALARM: error fl -1 previous source in this schedule not reached before new source was commanded (Lim)
  9. 1023 UT ALARM: error m5 -900 can't xlrread() Attempted to solve by halting the schedule and restart the drives in timeke, followed by executing antenna=open and antenna=operate (Lim)
  10. 1023 UT WARNING: error m5 -904 mark5 return code 4: error encountered (during attempt to execute) (Lim)
