Handover notes

Please use this page to write up any notes on anything that needs to be passed on to the next observer or should go into the end of experiment message.

Notes should be placed below the horizontal line as a new blog entry.

Continuing problems should be copied to the Current Issues page.

**Template for Handover notes:**

Be sure to add any specific notes about the experiment if required, for example “Special back end configuration for x reason”. Put as much detail as you can - the more the better.

It is ESSENTIAL to put your name after EVERY entry. Copy and paste the template into the new handover notes

Format for entering a comment It is important to stick to this formula - there is a good reason we need this information, so please include it!

Time stamp in UT * Comment * (Your Name)

For Example:

20:00UT: Wind stows, Missed scans 012-3456 to 012-3457 (Jim)

20:50UT: Mark5 lost connection, had to restart Mark5 and reconfigure DBBC, called Jamie on call to fix, missed scans 012-3456 to 012-4567 (Jim)

Again - as much detail as you can. It is important to remember that these notes will be sent to the correlator, so please make sure they make sense to others.

  • Experiment started okay (Lucas).
  • 20:47 UT Missed scan 183-2049 for SAR track (No alarm but can see it in ~/pmy/disk) (Lucas).
  • Scan 183-2045a shortened (Lucas).
  • field system stopped 11:55 (183) UT schedule not resumed until 05:25 (184) UT (Warren)

  • Very high wind at beginning, in excess of 60km/hr (wow). First scan out of wind stow 183-2107a
    • Autostow SHOULD have been released (slightly) earlier, however was not. Required a “system reboot” in timeyg for autostow to be released. I initially tried these different methods (after halt, disk_record=off):
    • source=stow,cont
    • antenna=open, antenna=operate, cont
    • “reboot drives” in timeyg, cont.
  • This seems like a somewhat malevolent bug.
    • So in summary, scans missed 183-1700 to 2101
  • Scan 183-2138a removed for SAR track (Lucas).

  • 0730UT - rxp not working and OTTER not displaying any values. Box in front of display at Mt Pleasant. Jamie will look into later but said was on S/X earlier and also has sensible systemp (Ross)
  • 2018.179.08:30:30.29?ERROR sc -13 setcl: formatter to FS time difference 0.5 seconds or greater. Delay difference is stable and a sensible value, times in fmset seem to differ by 0.6 seconds but are synced (Ross)
  • 0923UT - performed an fmset between scans to stop the alarm (Ross)
  • 1229UT - opened S/X valve for 5 minutes to cool receiver (Ross)
