Handover notes

Please use this page to write up any notes on anything that needs to be passed on to the next observer or should go into the end of experiment message.

Notes should be placed below the horizontal line as a new blog entry.

Continuing problems should be copied to the Current Issues page.

**Template for Handover notes:**

Be sure to add any specific notes about the experiment if required, for example “Special back end configuration for x reason”. Put as much detail as you can - the more the better.

It is ESSENTIAL to put your name after EVERY entry. Copy and paste the template into the new handover notes

Format for entering a comment It is important to stick to this formula - there is a good reason we need this information, so please include it!

Time stamp in UT * Comment * (Your Name)

For Example:

20:00UT: Wind stows, Missed scans 012-3456 to 012-3457 (Jim)

20:50UT: Mark5 lost connection, had to restart Mark5 and reconfigure DBBC, called Jamie on call to fix, missed scans 012-3456 to 012-4567 (Jim)

Again - as much detail as you can. It is important to remember that these notes will be sent to the correlator, so please make sure they make sense to others.

Katherine

Disk VSN: ???? (VSN not being reported by mk5 and Ke ip switch light doesn't appear to be working, recording to bank B)

Data Volume at Beginning: 0.000 GB

  • 1830UT Experiment started OK (Tiege)
  • 2134UT Many “ALARM: error m5 -104 mk5cn: time-out, connection closed” errors popping up. Seemed to fix itself, then dropped another round along with some “ALARM: error m5 -900 not while recording or playing”. Stopping schedule to investigate.
  • 21:53UT Had to power cycle mk5ke, in order to get dimino to start again. Upon restarting and checking mk5 banks, there is a fresh module only in bank A? It appears maybe someone removed the disks mid recording and put new ones in? I have started recording to this new bank A module (PKS+0021) note there was originally about 190 GB of data on the mystery module (which is now going to be really hard to identify, however from the webcam it appears there is a 2TB module in bank B [hard to read label, maybe USN-something] but it is not showing up to any commands). (Tiege)
  • 2217UT Called Jamie, he suspects that Mick has changed modules middle of experiment also, going to remain recording to bank A (Tiege)
  • 0340UT Power outage meant antenna got stuck. Back online by 0350UT. Missed scans 272-0341a,272-0343b,272-0346,272-0349b. (Liz)

  • 0330UT: Errors while setting up - “error st -998 reading systemclock, Antenna communication software (antcn) problem.”. Reconnected to antenna with “antenna=open”. Lost connection again after pointing check (same errors), reconnected again. Got lots of “error st -27 computer acu time difference exceeded 0.25 seconds, see value above” for about 30 seconds, then all fine. (Patrick)
  • 1700UT: Experiment started ok (Patrick)
  • ~0440 pps_delay drifting. fmset run at 0450 to correct this (JMc)

  • 18:30UT: Experiment started OK. (Arwin)
  • 19:17UT: Delay though dbbs drift warning. I didnt notice this till 22:25 UT. The correlation spetra look fine, mk5=dot? and fmset are fine too, checking the pps_delay. The data before 23:19 will be affected, though Jamie thinks it is not cirtical (Arwin)
  • 2319 - DBBC resynchronised. PPS_DELAY issues resolved. (JMc)
  • 0934UT scan 265-0924 had acu time difference errors. Only on this scan though. After that, was fine (Liz)
