Handover notes

Please use this page to write up any notes on anything that needs to be passed on to the next observer or should go into the end of experiment message.

Notes should be placed below the horizontal line as a new blog entry.

Continuing problems should be copied to the Current Issues page.

**Template for Handover notes:**

Be sure to add any specific notes about the experiment if required, for example “Special back end configuration for x reason”. Put as much detail as you can - the more the better.

It is ESSENTIAL to put your name after EVERY entry. Copy and paste the template into the new handover notes

Format for entering a comment It is important to stick to this formula - there is a good reason we need this information, so please include it!

For Example:

20:00UT: Wind stows, Missed scans 012-3456 to 012-3457 (Jim)

Again - as much detail as you can. It is important to remember that these notes will be sent to the correlator, so please make sure they make sense to others.

  • 02:29 UT Got a mk5 timeout error, everything looked okay though. Checked to see if all mk5yg related things were working and they were. (Arwin)
  • 09:04:19 UT ALARM: ?ERROR m5 -104 mk5cn: time-out, connection closed. No data appears to have been lost (between scans)

  • 1420 UT Starting setup of antenna: lots of errors for mk5, maser showing bad values - looks like there has been a power outage since the last experiment on site - checking to see if anything needs on-site personnel to fix. (Bryn)
  • 1445 UT Have everything working except for the field system time, have issued hwclock -w as superuser, but this hasn't fixed the issue with the wrong fs time. Cannot communicate with the gpib devices either. (Bryn)
  • 1450 UT rebooting fs computer because I can't get the time fixed. (Bryn)
  • 1540 UT fs hasn't come up from reboot yet. (Bryn)
  • 1650 UT Field system pc back up after reboot via IP. (Bryn)
  • 1700 UT Can't get the fs time to work - both hwclock and date return the normal time, as does fmset - I have run out of ideas. The error in time means that the telescope does not go to the right source in the sky, so I've halted the schedule until it is fixed. (Bryn)
  • 0000 UT Problems with maser server. GPIB comms not working, tried restarting hub etc contacting Brett and Mick on site (Warren)
  • 0150 Schedule resumed without GPIB/clkoff readings (JMc)
  • 0438 Schedule halted to investigate GPIB error. Problem appears to be the GPIB-RS232 converter, unable to be fixed today and all clkoff readings will need to be entered manually as comments. DBBC reconfigured after large pps_delay noted. (JMc)
  • 0502 Schedule resumed with first good data. (JMc)
