Handover notes

Please use this page to write up any notes on anything that needs to be passed on to the next observer or should go into the end of experiment message.

Notes should be placed below the horizontal line as a new blog entry.

Continuing problems should be copied to the Current Issues page.

**Template for Handover notes:**

Be sure to add any specific notes about the experiment if required, for example “Special back end configuration for x reason”. Put as much detail as you can - the more the better.

It is ESSENTIAL to put your name after EVERY entry. Copy and paste the template into the new handover notes

====== Experiment Name ======

**Hobart 12m**

Disk VSN: abc-123 | Data volume at beginning: 2.34 GB

   * 1300UT a comment from me (user)

**Katherine 12m**

Disk VSN: | Data volume at beginning: GB

   *

**Yarragadee 12m**

Disk VSN: | Data volume at beginning: GB

   * 1300UT Experiment started okay (JMc).

Format for entering a comment It is important to stick to this formula - there is a good reason we need this information, so please include it!

Time stamp in UT * Comment * (Your Name)

For Example:

20:00UT: Wind stows, Missed scans 012-3456 to 012-3457 (Jim)

20:50UT: Mark5 lost connection, had to restart Mark5 and reconfigure DBBC, called Jamie on call to fix, missed scans 012-3456 to 012-4567 (Jim)

Again - as much detail as you can. It is important to remember that these notes will be sent to the correlator, so please make sure they make sense to others.

  • 17:20 Drivepc restarted in time for experiment (JS)

  • 07:25 UT - Can't connect to newsmerd on monica so I can't check the He supply pressure. (Ellen)
  • 09:39 UT - S/X receiver stages are now at 67 and 53. (Ellen)
  • 09:40 UT - Tsys values in bands 01 - 08 are approx 110. This is probably due to the current storm. (Ellen)
  • 11:30 UT - Tsys values are back to normal. (Ellen)
  • 13:36 UT - Status monitor reporting date as 1969.293.01.48 UT, schedule appears unaffected. (Bryn)

Module: HOB+0075, 6264 GB

  • 17:39 UT - Experiment started OK (JS)
  • 09:40 UT - Tsys values all way too high, mostly consistently around 200. This is probably due to the current storm, although Ho system temps are only up to ~110. (Ellen)
  • 11:33 UT - X-band has cooled to normal temps but S-band is still too high. (Ellen)
  • 16:37 UT - Module ran out of space - no second module to switch to. Experiment Halted. (Bryn)

  • 17:00 UT - Experiment started OK (Tiege)
  • 17:01 UT - Delay difference shifted from ~0.3 microseconds to ~0.619 however it seems stable at this delay difference. (Tiege)
  • 17:25 UT - Delay continued to drift, halted schedule, Reset the DBBC, restarted observations, missed scans 026-1715b & 026-1721, prior scans likely unreliable. (Tiege)
  • 17:39 UT - Drifting happened again, not stabilising after 10+mins, halt schedule and rebooted DBBC, reconfigured and restarted schedule. Missed scans 026-1735b and 026-1738 (Tiege)
  • 18:07 UT - Yet again drifting occuring badly, tried doing a hard reboot of the DBBC using the ipswitch, currently monitoring, appears to be still drifting. missed 026-1808b through to 026-1822a (Tiege)
  • 18:43 UT - Called Warren (on-call) as delay was still consistently drifting, setup Kathernine again from scratch, reset field system, mk5, dbbc etc. restarted schedule at 19:00 UT, still appears to be drifting, Warren directed me to leave it until the morning. Scans missed 026-1843c through to 026-1854b (Tiege)
  • 2210-2229 UT - No data recorded while adjusting maser settings. Modulation turned off & no further clock jumps/slips noted. (JMc)
