Handover notes

Please use this page to write up any notes on anything that needs to be passed on to the next observer or should go into the end of experiment message.

Notes should be placed below the horizontal line as a new blog entry.

Continuing problems should be copied to the Current Issues page.

**Template for Handover notes:**

Be sure to add any specific notes about the experiment if required, for example “Special back end configuration for x reason”. Put as much detail as you can - the more the better.

It is ESSENTIAL to put your name after EVERY entry. Copy and paste the template into the new handover notes

Disk VSN: HOB+0127/32000 | Data volume at beginning: 27423.969 GB

  1. 1800 UT Experiment started OK (mas)
  2. 21.30 UT halted schedule due to wind stowed. Missed scans 345-2128 through 345-2154 (mas)
  3. 21:54 UT back on source for 345-2154 still a bit windy (warren)
  4. 22:00 UT S/X receiver in position (manual) but display says rx 5 (w)
  5. 01:00 UT FS crash, simply restarting FS seemed to have fixed it, no related drive pc death. Potentially missed scans 0046 and 0100 (Tiege)
  6. 01:57 UT Source appears too low for scan 0200. (Tiege)
  7. 02:20UT - Windstow started (Tiege)
  8. @ ~ 8:00 UT - Original disk filled up, new disk (HOB+0092/8000/1024 with ~83% free space) installed (with some minor mishaps). Back on schedule (at least) by Scan 346-1116. Data difference now -944.37 GB (Sorry). Required FMSet resync, interrupting scan 346-1131. (Earl)
  9. 12:00UT - Module HOB+0092 is protected, so no data was being saved. Disabled protection with mk5=protect=off. First good scan: 346-1219. (Patrick)
  10. 15:50UT - FS crash. Restarted FS & rebooted drives with rem_reboot -r rakbus sys26m. Resumed schedule with 346-1612. Missed scans 346-1543 thru 346-1609. (Patrick)

  • 1730UT - Experiment started OK (Tiege).
  • 1742UT - FS has crashed, restarting has given me 'Allocating memory for antenna monitoring error'. Attempting to fix now. (Tiege)
  • 1825UT - Rebooted drive pc with: rem_reboot -r rakbus sys26m (in a newsmerd terminal), needed to do it twice as it crashed again almost instantly. everything seems to be OK now, first OK scan 344-1830b (Tiege)
  • 2130UT - Looks like post drive pc crash, receiver 3 (warm S band) has come on axis. S/X was definitely on at start of experiment, confirmed using rxp command, live page and webcam position. Warren thinks it may have something to do with Otter acting strangely currently (Tiege)
  • 21:54 UT halted schedule, to look in receiver cabin and change back to S/X. Rebooted rx26m, still something wrong with rx comms (Warren)
  • 22:00 UT recording of 344-2154 no good (w)
  • 22:41 UT resumed schedule with recording of 344-2241b (w)
  • 04:00 UT power outage, drive pc reboot, receiver position issue again. note receiver manually in s/x position, no “auto”, receiver 2 displayed (w)
  • 04:21 UT tracking on source ready for next scan (w)
