Handover notes

Please use this page to write up any notes on anything that needs to be passed on to the next observer or should go into the end of experiment message.

Notes should be placed below the horizontal line as a new blog entry.

Continuing problems should be copied to the Current Issues page.

**Template for Handover notes:**

Be sure to add any specific notes about the experiment if required, for example “Special back end configuration for x reason”. Put as much detail as you can - the more the better.

It is ESSENTIAL to put your name after EVERY entry. Copy and paste the template into the new handover notes

====== Experiment Name ======

**Hobart 12m**

Disk VSN: abc-123 | Data volume at beginning: 2.34 GB

   * 1300UT a comment from me (user)

**Katherine 12m**

Disk VSN: | Data volume at beginning: GB

   *

**Yarragadee 12m**

Disk VSN: | Data volume at beginning: GB

   * 1300UT Experiment started okay (JMc).

Format for entering a comment It is important to stick to this formula - there is a good reason we need this information, so please include it!

Time stamp in UT * Comment * (Your Name)

For Example:

20:00UT: Wind stows, Missed scans 012-3456 to 012-3457 (Jim)

20:50UT: Mark5 lost connection, had to restart Mark5 and reconfigure DBBC, called Jamie on call to fix, missed scans 012-3456 to 012-4567 (Jim)

Again - as much detail as you can. It is important to remember that these notes will be sent to the correlator, so please make sure they make sense to others.

  • 17:30UT: Experiment Started OK (Tiege)
  • approx 2300 - Power outage at Katherine. Antenna drives off, rfpic server needed restarting. GPIB converter powered off and unable to be power cycled. Some observations made in this period, but without clkoff measurements. (JMc)
  • 2337 - DBBC rebooted itself - power glitch?. Martin arrived at station, fixed GPIB error. Schedule resumed with first good data at 2356. (JMc)
  • All recorded data between 2300 and 2355 is suspect. (JMc)

Hobart 26m

Beginning disk position: 7489 GB on HOB+0112

  • 17:30UT: Experiment did not start, major problems with the set up. setupsx was getting the critical error (sample rate error as stated in the setup guide), editing the proc file and making it similar too aua011 got rid of this error but introduced others. On-call person was called (Warren) we spent half an hour mucking around with the proc file, Warren eventually hacked together a proc file that seems to work without spitting out errors, however, neither of us are sure it is working correctly. Will wait for Jamie to evaluate at shift change over. Warren edited something to do with the tracks in the proc file. (Tiege)
  • 17:53UT: First good scan 222-1753 (Tiege)
  • 2300: Configuration confirmed as valid as far as frequencies and fanout. Will need to send a revised VEX file to SHAO for the correlation. (JMc)
  • 0000: Track assignment before scan 0019 has an invalid track assignment for the X-band LSB channels. This was corrected at 0012 (JMc).

Terminal reports back 'unable to find route (113)' however the maserdelay commands still works and reports normal delays. In addition, vnc's to the Katherine maser work and to the pcfsyg, but the yg rack camera appears offline. (Lucas)
  • 01:43UT - vnc to maser works again (Lucia)

  • 10:45UT mk5yg had to be power cycled using the internet power switch after getting the following error “ALARM: error m5 -23 mk5cn: error opening, mark 5 probably not running, see above for error”
  • 10:50UT ntpq server offsets were large, running a sync on fmset fixed the issue. Checked with on call person as well. (Arwin)
  • 11:00UT Experiment started again following restoration of power to the site. First valid scan will be 11:06 UT, scan name 215-1106a, source = 1424-418. (Arwin)
  • 11:05UT Data at start was 335.512, approx (914.8-335.512) Gb of data was missed. Setting the offset to +579.28 in log monitor. (Arwin)
  • Had the following error every scan “WARNING: error wx -2 met: can not connect to server.”. I imagine this is due to the missing weather recording hardware? (Arwin)
  • 14:09UT Autocorrelation spectra has some issues but checked with the on call person and decided no action was neccesary. Channel 5 was consistently as shown in the image below (Arwin)
