Katherine To Do

  • Feed tube
    • Install hatch handle
    • Install receiver and cal plates

    • Install dehumidifier and test 'gimbal' mechanism. Look at antenna step-response with CTScope
    • Replace fan on RF box
  • Pedestal
    • Evict wildlife
    • Modify controller setting to accept remote resets, and test

    • Put close-outs around elevation jack once cabling, installation and testing is complete
  • Generator
    • Fix fuel tank
    • New (2nd hand) starter motor, wrong one. Get new one from India. Fit Hobart one.

  • Repalce Az gearbox oil

    • Remove rubbish

    • Confirm full set of spares, record serial numbers
  • Control room equipment
    • Do we need another IPS? No.
    • Install DBBC
      • Check cables and cards are securely connected, check for signs of damage
      • Turn on and see if it works :-)
      • Run Gino's calibration procedure
    • Install Ops PC
    • Fire up Rubidium and Frequency Comparator, monitor stability Fail.
    • Install second power meter, check comms with PCFS
    • Set up suitable backup mechanism for timing PC (in case of disk failure)
  • RF/IF testing
    • Install power meter plotting software on pcfs (Jim)
    • Check all four signals are getting through and bandpasses look reasonable
      • any signs of RFI?
      • Are cable compensators doing a reasonable job?
    • look for phase-cal tones at S and X. About the right level?
    • look for noise diode, check its strength
    • check that a tone can be put through the system
    • measure Y-factors at all four bands, calculate Tsys
    • Attempt to detect a bright source
      • Jim to provide list of precessed source coordinates
      • Determine gross pointing offsets and obtain a zeroth-order model (Jim)
    • Measure SEFD at all bands. Should be ~2500 Jy
    • Fringe check to Hobart

    • Confirm PCFS can talk to:
      • Antenna controller
        • Check source=stow command
      • GPIB devices (two counters and SML)
