Handover notes

Please use this page to write up any notes on anything that needs to be passed on to the next observer or should go into the end of experiment message.

Notes should be placed below the horizontal line as a new blog entry.

Continuing problems should be copied to the Current Issues page.

**Template for Handover notes:**

Be sure to add any specific notes about the experiment if required, for example “Special back end configuration for x reason”. Put as much detail as you can - the more the better.

It is ESSENTIAL to put your name after EVERY entry. Copy and paste the template into the new handover notes

Again - as much detail as you can. It is important to remember that these notes will be sent to the correlator, so please make sure they make sense to others.

Hb HOB+0127 (5433 GB)

  • UT03:16 - Experiment started OK

Ke HOB+0125 (5973 GB)

  • UT03:16 - Experiment started OK
  • 0400 UT – schedule accidentally halted (Ke rather than Yg for system check). Back on schedule at 04:07:47. Scans 258-0400 – 258-0405a missed.

Yg HOB+0121 (25063 GB)

  • UT03:16 - Experiment started OK
  • UT04:00 - Halting schedule for system checks. mk5 appeared to have 'lost' its pointing position on the disk after halting the schedule. However, this was eventually corrected by Jamie before restarting the schedule.
  • UT04:54 - Schedule restarting w 223 GB deficiency post system checks. Missed scans from: 258-0401 to 258-0448

Hb:

  • Start disk position: 0 GB (VSN: HOB+0127)
  • Halting schedule at DOY/UT 258/01:00, scan 258-0101, source OJ287 for system checks. Also inserted 2TB module into Bank B as USN-0201.
  • 258-0134 9901 0648-165 276 31 NEUTR 01:34:35 01:35:13 0:38 5360.5
  • Schedule resumed at UT 01:34, but mk5 recording error of some sort
  • Halted schedule at UT 01:39 to fix mk5hb issue
  • Restart scheduled UT 01:48. mk5 recording successful
  • Schedule stopped again at UT 01:51 for spaceX test
  • Schedule resumed at UT 02:15. First source is to be nrao530. Est. data deficiency is 341 GB

Ke:

  • Start disk position: 0 GB (VSN: HOB+0125)
  • Eremote and backup stopped working (257-03:18 UT), had to login as su and kill and restart the processes (restored 257-04:20 UT) {Ellen}
  • 2TB module inserted into Bank B at UT 22:53

Yg:

  • Start disk position: 19,263 GB (VSN: HOB+0121)
  • Tsys band 11 ok, the rest of S band is too high {Ellen}

  • Tsys S band too high (except channel 11) (Ellen)

  • The eCtrl connection to Hart has been dropping out frequently and I was unable to monitor the log - I tried several times to get it started but no such luck. (Imogen)

IMPORTANT INFO for Chris/Anita for Hb The disk in bank A needs to be changed over tomorrow while Brett is out at Mt. Pleasant and while there is a gap in the schedule.

  • Hb
    • Recording to HOB+0129, start position 5804 GB
    • System checks were not conducted - don't forget next time! (like I did…)
    • scan 255-0220 missed at Hobart while handling a module swap
  • Ke
    • Recording to HOB+0124, start position 5718 GB
    • Power outage, switched to generator at UT 10:37. Doesn't seem to have affected any scans.
    • sync error with Mark5B. fmset run at UT 10:58
    • Antenna stuck. Scans from UT 11:00 to 11:09 affected. Associated scans are: 1739+522, VR422201, 1519-273, 2232-488
    • 3C446 at UT 11:14 is waiting at limit
    • UT 11:48 Halted schedule. gpib issues –> formatter-mk5 clock problems. Schedule restarted at UT 12:47. First source is 1958-179.
    • Data from UT 11:00 to 12:53 is probably unusable.
  • Yg
    • Recording to HOB+0121, start position 2159 GB
    • System checks - Pointing done on eso212 (04:02 UT)
      • 2014.254.04:08:28.18#fivpt#xoffset 212.4627 60.0973 -0.00062 0.00720 0.00378 0.00324 1 1 eso212
      • Started 03:44, ended 04:26.
        • First missing scan: 254-0344
        • Last missing scan: 254-0423a
  • HartRAO
    • There was a FS outage at around 07:50 UT and eRCTL collapsed. Jonathan Quick had fixed the problem but just forgot to restart the eRCTL daemon.
    • eRCTL has intermittent connection. Jonathan Quick sent email about this.
