Yg Equipment room partition 2013 August 1

A new sliding glass door partition has been installed in the equipment room alongside the eastern most rack. Equipment noise has now been greatly reduced in the operations area and the equipment area temperature stability should be improved.

Continuous cal at Yg

The continuous cal cabling from DBBC to noise diode was completed and tested succesfully. Jamie calculated that the S-band continuous cal signal should be decreased by 7dB and that X-band should be increased by 7dB. This has been done and needs testing. The normal cal should also be checked for amplitude.

DBBC work at Yg, 2013 Jul 25

DBBC has had its CPU board replaced for the cooler ATOM processor board from Advantech. The earthing of the VSI cable connector has been implemented. Jamie configured and tested the DBBC. He started a test schedule and there have been no clock jumps in 24 hours.

Looking at creating clock jumps by producing electrical disturbances from things such as airconditioners coming on, antenna drives switching on etc. There have been no clock jumps yet. Correlater evidence suggests that the problem was happening in afternoons till sun down, around 0800 UT. That raises the posibilities of temperature was the problem or the associated electrical disturbances from A/C units cutting in and out. Unfortunately, yesterday was wet at Yg, so we are not certain the problem is fixed.

timemon.log is the file being generated by FS containing the 2 counter readings, maserdelay and clkoff, which you can check or plot to detect jumps.

July 27. Today will be warmer. Randall will come and assist with creating Electrical disturbances. I will be here till Monday, performing Yg maintenance this weekend.

August 7th. Completed first experiment since maintenance today. R1597. There were no clock jumps. It is probably fixed.

FS upgraded to 9.11.3 at Yg

PCFS software at Yg has been upgraded from 9.11.2 to 9.11.3 at Yg. Not yet tested with DBBC as it's in pieces at the moment.

Link to upgrade notes: 9.11.2 to 9.11.3 at Yg

This version is DBBC v104 compatible and can set BBC TPI default levels. DRUDG now produces output .prc files with default IF power levels which is nice. Continuous cal will also be worth a try when the DBBC is re-assembled.

I’ve verified that the fs starts, econtrol works (and Mk5 disk capacity readings look sensible again) but haven’t been able to too too much more without the antenna or DBBC

Yg Field System software update

I’ve upgraded the PCFS software at Yg to the latest version (9.11.2) and also the station-specific version (st-0.0.1-9.10.5_ifpic). It looks OK on testing except for the following:

* systemp12 is still producing nonsensical results * ifpic reports values back as expected but it can’t be used to change things. I think this is a bug that’s been fixed elsewhere but not propagated to Yg. Setting an attenuation from the FS (e.g. ifpic=*,*,10,10,7,7) always gives an “odd response from the pic” error. This also happens if I use the telnet interface.

I’ve checked the pointing and done a recording test, also run a test ‘schedule’ by typing in the usual sequence of commands from a schedule on the command line.
